Frequently asked questions

Common questions about our mobile detailing, ceramic coating, and paint correction. Still unsure? Call or text 781-777-8575.

Do you really come to me, or do I drop the car off somewhere?
We come to you. Spade Detailing is fully mobile, so we detail your vehicle at your home, driveway, garage, or workplace. You don't drive anywhere or wait in a lobby. For aircraft, we work at the hangar. We're based at 50 Union Ave in Sudbury, MA and travel to you across MetroWest and Greater Boston.
What do you need from me on the day of service?
Just a place to park with room to open the doors and walk around the car — a driveway, garage, or parking spot. We're a mobile service and will go over anything specific, like water or power access, when you book.
What areas does Spade Detailing serve?
We serve Sudbury, Weston, Wayland, Lincoln, and Concord, and we travel across MetroWest and Greater Boston. We're a mobile service based at 50 Union Ave in Sudbury, MA 01776. If you're in a nearby town and not sure we reach you, call 781-777-8575 and we'll confirm.
How much does mobile detailing cost?
Detail packages are priced by vehicle size (coupe/sedan vs. truck/SUV). Silver (Basic) is $175/$200, Gold (Full) is $225/$250, and Platinum with protectant is $275/$300. Add-ons are available, such as headlight restoration ($55), wax ($55), engine bay ($45), undercarriage ($35), clay bar ($40), pet/dog hair removal ($30), and odor removal ($45).
How much does a ceramic coating cost?
A 3-year ceramic coating is $299 and a 5-year coating is $349 (the 5-year option adds $100 over the base). Wheel ceramic is $20 per wheel. We also offer paint correction plus ceramic combo packages from $699 to $849, which pair a correction step with the coating for the best finish.
How long does a ceramic coating last?
Spade offers two options: a 3-year coating and a 5-year coating. The actual lifespan depends on how the car is stored, washed, and driven. Garage-kept cars that get regular gentle maintenance washes hold up better than daily drivers parked outside through New England winters.
What's the difference between paint correction and ceramic coating?
Paint correction removes existing defects, such as swirl marks, light scratches, and oxidation, by machine-polishing the clear coat to restore gloss and clarity. Ceramic coating is a protective layer applied on top of the paint to add durability, water beading, and easier cleaning. Correction fixes the paint; coating protects it. They're often done together.
What's the difference between 1-step and 2-step paint correction?
A 1-step correction ($499) uses a single polishing stage to remove lighter swirls and improve gloss, ideal for newer or well-kept paint. A 2-step correction ($849) adds a heavier cutting stage before the polish to tackle deeper scratches and heavier oxidation. Heavily marred or older paint usually needs the 2-step.
Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating?
Not always, but it's recommended if your paint has swirls or scratches, because a ceramic coating locks in whatever condition the paint is in. Our ceramic process includes full paint decontamination, an exterior wash, a strip wash, iron remover, and a clay bar before coating. If you want defects removed first, we offer correction-plus-ceramic combos from $699 to $849.
How long does a detail take?
It depends on the package and the vehicle's condition. A basic detail is the quickest, while full and platinum packages take longer because of the added paint and protection steps. Paint correction and ceramic coatings take more time still, since each stage is done by hand. We'll give you a realistic time window when you book.
Do you detail trucks and SUVs?
Yes. Trucks and SUVs are priced slightly higher than coupes and sedans because of their size: Silver is $200, Gold is $250, and Platinum with protectant is $300. All add-ons and ceramic options are available for larger vehicles too.
Do you detail aircraft?
Yes, we offer aviation detailing and come to your hangar, including Hanscom (KBED) in Bedford and Norwood (KOWD). Aircraft detailing is quoted on request — call 781-777-8575 with your aircraft type and location.
Can you remove pet hair, odors, or mold from a car?
Yes. Pet and dog hair removal is $30, odor removal is $45, and mold removal is $250. We also handle vomit removal at $350. These are add-ons that pair with a detail package. Tell us what we're dealing with when you book so we bring the right materials.
Can you protect my car from winter road salt in New England?
Yes. New England winters mean salt and brine, which build up underneath the vehicle and accelerate corrosion. We offer an undercarriage cleaning add-on for $35, and a ceramic coating makes regular winter washes easier by helping grime release. Maintenance plans help keep salt off all season.
How do I book, and do you offer maintenance plans?
Call or text 781-777-8575, or email [email protected] to schedule. We come to you. We also offer recurring maintenance plans to keep your car clean year-round: Weekly is $90, Monthly is $120, and Quarterly is $150. Spade Detailing has 5 stars across Google, Yelp, Facebook, and Instagram.
